On a recent Thursday in Sitka, Alaska police executed a search warrant at a private residence. Two men and a woman were present at the time. Police say they discovered alleged evidence at the residence that prompted them to take all three adults into custody on suspicion of drug crimes. Numerous drug charges were filed against each person.
Police say they seized substances during their search that they believe to be heroin and methamphetamine. The officers also say they found fentanyl pills and a substantial amount of cash in the home. Investigators claim that the items they seized would be worth more than $40,000 in illegal drug sales on the street.
All 3 defendants are being held in jail with bails set
The youngest of the three people arrested after the recent police search is a 24-year-old woman who is being held in a Sitka jail with bail set at $5,000. The other two defendants, ages 31 and 34, are currently residing in the same jail with bails set at $10,000 and $15,000. While all three people were arrested in connection with the same alleged drug crimes, each person is guaranteed an opportunity to present a defense, and each case will have its own, separate outcome.
Criminal defense support often helps mitigate circumstances
A person facing drug charges in Alaska may request legal representation before answering any questions under interrogation. Relying on an experienced criminal defense attorney from start to finish as a case is being adjudicated is the best way to ensure that the most favorable outcome possible is achieved in court. If there are grounds to request a case dismissal or to challenge evidence, an experienced attorney will recognize such grounds and will know exactly what to do to bring it to the court’s attention.
